Some things are hard to say

I have pondered this a bit.  I have been blessed with my blog.  I am a stay at home mom way out in the Texas countryside and blogging has been a wonderful outlet for me.  No, I am not the most dilligent of writers/posters/bloggers but I enjoy the little community of friends that I have come by through visits and comments on others' blogs.  So right now when I have been away for a few days and deciding on this post, I knew that much like my own private journaling, I wanted to keep to sharing true parts of my everyday life.  I know I have delighted in posting about our travel adventures in order to share and document trip details and moments for me and anyone else interested, but I had hoped to blog more about our everyday.  And sometimes those everyday's can be hard.

I had a kind and loving step-father, Pete, (for the last 25 years) that passed away this past Thursday night (April 8th).  Today I have stopped by to clean up the home a bit and pack up stuff in order to stay with my mom for a while, but in my habit and as a pick me up I checked my blog and e-mail.  It is very dear to me to see kind catch-up notes from bloggers I have gotten to know and somehow a refreshment to see bright, cheerful, lively goings on of fellow bloggers.  I am very thankful for the respite of this virtual fellowship.  And I knew I just wanted to let those of you ladies, who have been such kind encouragers to me, know why I have paused a bit.

I certainly would appreciate your prayers for us all and most especially my wonderful mom, Louisa, who is strong in the Lord but aching at every turn.  Thank you and know that "For in Him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28)

Your news touched my heart, and reminded me of my dad's passing a few years back. Definitely friends are sent by God at these times to hold us up. May those in your physical presence give you the hugs you need, and may those of us surrounding you in blog world lift you up in prayer.

Take care,
Debi

Victoria, Debi, "It's me", Marcia, Elizabeth, Frenchy, Sally, and Anne I so appreciate your loving words and prayers. I am thankful that our family and friends visiting and consoling my mom and family have had dear funny, sweet stories to share about Pete. But I just know that what comes next is harder most especially for my mom who is going to be on her own in her home and whose everyday will never be the same. Y'all's thoughtful comments mean so much to me.

Hi Jenny,
Just stopping in to say you and your mom are in my thoughts. I don't know if you have any siblings or if your mom lives nearby? Hoping you live close to each other and can be of comfort to each other.
Take care,
Sally

Thank you so much Sally. Thankfully we are not too far from my mom (I am 1 hour away and my sister only 10 minutes away) and we are alternating staying with her for a while. and there is dear comfort in that fact. I can't believe he has been gone a week already. It seems like mere moments and we are tired. But all our nearby family and friends are so caring and keeping up with my mom. I so appreciate your concern and will post a little update soon. In Christ, Jenny

Hi Jenny,
You're very welcome! I'm so glad you and your sister are relatively nearby your mom and able to spend time with her. Losing family members is a major shock to the system, I don't know that you ever regain your equilibrium completely but you learn to stay upright somehow. Wishing you comfort in each other and in your cherished memories.
Hugs hugs and more hugs.
Sally

Hello Steph, I am fine and yes, from time to time memories flood and tears come, but there has been a lot to put in order and my mom has actually had to deal with so much more than just Pete's passing (some family issues). She deals as she needs to and has not been frozen in grief as could happen to anyone. Thank you dearly for your concern and prayers...what a covering they are.
